The Top 10 Largest Cybersecurity Companies


This is a list of the world’s largest cybersecurity companies based on their market capitalization as at the close of markets on Friday, November 6, 2020. There are a lot of companies that offer cyber security solutions as part of their range of services but for the purposes of this list we decided to only include companies that specifically focus on cyber security services as their main offering. 

Crowdstrike – $31.11 Billion

Crowdstrike tops our list as the world’s largest specialist cyber security company. The company bills itself as one of the world’s leading cloud-native endpoint security platforms. They specialize in protecting businesses from cyber attacks, ransomware, and malware using their advanced artificial intelligence software.

Palo Alto Networks – $23.74 Billion

Palo Alto Networks was founded in 2005 by Israeli-American software engineer Nir Zuk with the objective of creating a firewall that can identify and provide fine-grained control of applications. Such a firewall would then enable corporate employees to safely use modern applications while minimizing the risk of falling victim to cyber attacks.

Zscaler – $19.94 Billion

Zscaler is a San Jose, California based cloud security company that sells products that allow other companies to work securely from anywhere in the world. The company has more than 100 data centers with customers in 185 countries. It was founded in 2007 and raised more than $192 million in its IPO in March 2018.

Cloudflare – $19.71 Billion

Cloudflare is a web performance and security company offering Content Delivery Network (CDN), Domain Name Server (DNS), Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) protection and security. Cloudflare’s products protect and speed up millions of websites, APIs and Saas services. 

Fortinet – $18.96 Billion

Fortinet develops and markets cybersecurity products and services including firewalls, endpoint security, intrusion prevention and antivirus software. The company is headquartered in Sunnyvale, California and was founded in 2000 by brothers Ken Xie and Michael Xie.

Check Point Software – $17.0 Billion

Check Point Software is a cybersecurity company specializing in secure remote access. Their products offer protection against mega-cyberattacks as well as any cyber threats across all networks, endpoint, cloud and mobile products.    

NortonLifeLock – $12.67 Billion

This company was originally founded as Symantec in 1982 before being acquired by Broadcom in November 2019 and adopting the current name of NortonLifeLock. NortonLifeLock develops consumer products for device security, identity theft protection and online privacy.

Trend Micro – $8.11 Billion

Trend Micro was established in 1988 in Los Angeles, California before eventually moving its headquarters to its current location in Tokyo, Japan. The company develops and sells enterprise security software for servers, containers, cloud computing, networks and endpoints. The company has dual-listings on the Tokyo Stock Exchange and on the NASDAQ.

Avast – $6.75 Billion

Avast is a company that you might possibly be already familiar with as the creator of free antivirus software. Over and above this they also offer a paid-for premium version of its free product that offers much more comprehensive computer security, browser security, antivirus protection, firewalls, anti-phishing, antispyware and antispam products amongst its offerings.

Varonis Systems – $4.02 Billion

Varonis specializes in data security software that protects against ransomware attacks. Their products protect against Ryuk, Trickbot and many types of advanced persistent threats (APTs). The company was founded in New York City in 2005 and it also has R&D offices in Herzliya, Israel.
